Things I've found online. May or not be related to polyamory, sex, relationships, <3. Could just be about cheese. Or the color cherry red. I guess I might just sometimes be NSFW. My bad. |
Seriously, this is so good.
Dedicated to Whitney Houston - RIP. I have nowhere near the capacity to sing this song correctly, so I made a Jezebel friendly version…. recorded very indie. Not much production, just an added vocal track.
How I envy her

Hey fellas. Usually when I post here I’m in a relatively good mood, but today was rough.
It was the 2nd day of a new job, I informed management in beginning of Day 1 of my preferred name and pronouns and that I’m trans. It went really well and my supervisor was quite…

You’ve probably seen the advertisements about it and perhaps have been in a Tim Horton’s store yourself, but you may not know how important Camp Day is.
I know from experience that it’s a valuable contribution to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation which helps thousands of kids get to spend time at a summer camp.
What’s my experience? Well, when I lived in Nova Scotia, my mum was the head chef at the Tim Horton’s Children Camp in Tatamagouche. I used to go and visit sometimes, riding my bike there, to hang out with the kids and visit her at work.
When I was 13, I made the grown up decision to leave my Daddy and move with Mum to Ontario, where she had been offered the job of managing the Tim Horton Memorial Camp in Parry Sound. We lived there all through high school and it was definitely quite an experience.
In the winter, the place would act as a resort. We had lots of companies, church groups and so on come up for retreats and getaways. When Tim Hortons and Wendy’s were joining forces, I even served Dave Thomas steak, as I was working in the kitchen. That was a pretty weird experience.
Once the snow melted, it was time for the site to get ready for the kids. Counselors would arrive, some returning and others working there for their first time. As I ended up working there in the kitchen for the summer, I got to experience the bonding canoe trip at the beginning of one summer where I earned the nickname “Putz”. Yes, I’m aware of what it actually means.
Eventually, the first bus of kids would pull into the site in that big Tim Horton’s bus you might see on the highways. How that bus made it threw the windy roads to the middle of nowhere, Lorimer Lake, was beyond me. I had enough trouble driving a car down there! Before they had the big fancy cabins that you see now in photos of the Parry Sound camp in Tim Horton’s stores, the kids would fill the little cabins to the brim. All full of underprivileged children who, with your help, got the chance to experience summer camp.
These kids came from across Canada, and some from the States. Many lived in poor neighborhoods or came from single parent families. For them, the opportunity just to get away for a weekend was unheard of, never mind a full 10 days at an awesome summer camp.
At the Parry Sound location, it is a cottage wonderland for kids. They get to go tubing, waterskiing, paddleboating, canoeing … you name it. The camp owns an island, complete with its own teepee, that they would take an evening to go and camp on. (Yes, I stayed on that island in the off season, with friends, drunk out of our minds. The benefits of being in high school and living at a campsite. There are actually many benefits to living at a place like that when in high school. Boats, cabins, pool tables, fun stuff ….)
There’s arts and crafts and campfire singing, group activities and indoor and outdoor sports. Basically more fun than you could fit into 10 days and so much of it made possible by Camp Day donations.
One of my favorite camp memories is getting to know Leslie Mahaffy’s brother, Ryan. After the tragic murders committed by Paul Bernando, Ryan was offered a sanctuary for 30 days at our camp and it was an honor to get to know both he and his mum and help support them during that difficult time.
So while the coffee might not be the best, and sometimes the service staff are a little, well, herp-a-derp, I hope that you will support Camp Day today - and throw your change in the boxes on other days, because you’re helping to make some awesome memories for kids who definitely deserve it.

omfg, cannot stop laughing!
